US Census 2010 - A New Portrait of America

Complete Your Census Form

On April 1, 2010, our nation will be counted. The 2010 Census will be a short-form only census and will count all residents (citizens and non-citizens) living in the United States as well as ask for name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, relationship and housing tenure – taking just minutes to complete. The US Constitution mandates a headcount of everyone residing in the United States.

Why is the Census so important?

Census data directly affect how more than $400 billion per year in federal and state funding is allocated to communities for neighborhood improvements, public health, education, transportation and much more.

Census data are also used to apportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and to redistrict state legislatures.

Census data are used to define legislature districts, school district assignment areas and other important functional areas of government.

The Census is like a snapshot that helps define who we are as a nation. Data about changes in our community are crucial to many planning decisions.

The mission of the Rowan-Salisbury Complete Count Committee is to educate our community about the importance of participating in this historic event and help ensure no one is left uncounted. Achieving a complete and accurate 2010 Census is in our hands.
